Chris
Shalbert (1985-89)
Chris wrestled on the
varsity for four years. He
was a member of the Centennial League dual meet championship team of
1986 and the Centennial League Tournament champion team of 1987.
Chris had a career record of 98-23-1.
He was a three- time Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament champ, a two
time Centennial League champ and in the finals of his senior year, he
pined his opponent in fifteen seconds.
Chris was known throughout the Valley for his double leg
takedown. He was a three
time District place winner, a two time Regional place winner, and in his
senior year, reached the State Semi-finals and finished with a fifth
place medal. His senior awards were Outstanding Senior Wrestler at
Northwestern, an Army Reserve National Scholar Athletic Scholarship, and
a Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
