2007-2008

The 2007-2008 wrestling season was one of the greatest seasons in the history of the program.  Under the coaching of first year head coach Bryan Klass, and Brad Kleckner, the Tigers set a new school record for wins in a season by posting a 27-3 record!  Along the way, the Tigers posted a 5-0 record at the Parkland Duals, won the Colonial League Title, a District Duals Championship, the District XI Sportsmanship Award, and finished 2nd in the PIAA State Tournament! What a season!  Along with all the great team accomplishments, the Tigers put 5 wrestlers in the District Finals...and ALL 5 came out with gold around their necks.  Eddie Faust, Evan Yenolevich, Ricky Williams, Victor Konno, and Ben Clymer all captured district titles.  The Disrtict XI coaches also voted Coach Brad Kleckner as the Assistant Coach of the Year!  At the Regional Tournament, NW qualified all 5 of those wrestlers for States. Evan Yenolevich and Ben Clymer both captured gold, Victor Konno placed 2nd, Ricky Williams and Eddie Faust both placed 5th.  This was good enough for the Tigers to place 2nd as a team, only 1.5 points behind the SE Region Champs.  With 5 wrestlers making the trip to Chocolate Town, Coach Klass and Coach Kleckner had very high hopes for the week to come.  And once they got to the Giant Center they did not disappoint. The Tigers finished as the PIAA State Runners-Up.  Four of the five qualifiers came home with a medal.  Evan Yenolevich placed 2nd for the 2nd year in a row, Ricky Williams capped off his season with a 5th place showing, Victor Konno ended his career at NWL with a 6th place showing, and Ben Clymer became Northwestern Lehigh's 7th State Champion, earning the Outstanding Wrestler honor along the way!  It was a great end to a great season.  The 2007-2008 Tigers will go down as one of the greatest teams to ever wrestle at Northwestern Lehigh.
