2005-2006

Under the coaching of Mike Williams and Bryan Klass, Northwestern Lehigh made school history yet again.  For the first time in school history NWL placed fourth in the PIAA STATE TEAM DUAL tournament!  The Tigers went on to place fourth in Hershey at the PIAA individual state tournament where Northwestern was represented by six wrestlers.  The Tigers sent two wrestlers into the PIAA State Finals.  Junior Scott Clymer became Northwestern sixth state champion and the first state champions since 1980.  Senior Dan Konno knocked off defending state champion Donnie Ament in the Semi-Finals in one of the tournaments most exciting matches.   Dan went on to place second.  Freshman Evan Yenolevich (103lbs), Junior Ben Marich (140lbs), Junior Brandon Williams (152lbs), and Sophomore Ben Clymer (171lbs) all placed in the top twelve at states.

Northwestern placed a school record ten wrestlers at the PIAA District tournament falling just short to Northern Lehigh by only 3.5 points.  The Tigers captured two gold medals at Districts.  Evan Yenolevich (103lbs) and Dan Konno (145lbs) both were crowned the 2006 District XI champions.   Northwestern qualified eight wrestlers to the PIAA Regional Tournament where ALL eight wrestlers placed!  Again, the Tigers captured two gold medals.  Evan and Dan both were crowned PIAA Regional Champions.  The Tigers qualified six wrestlers to the 2006 PIAA State Tournament.

The Tigers were Colonial League runners-up for the second consecutive year.  NWL finished first out of over 35 teams both AA and AAA at the Penn Manor Tournament.  At this tournament the Tigers set a new team record set in 2005 by the 2005 AAA State Champions.  NWL started off the season by placing second at the Nazareth Invitational falling short to Nazareth.  Nazareth went on the win the 2006 PIAA State Tournament.

For the third consecutive year the Junior Varsity team finish first in the JV District XI Tournament.  The Tigers were the highest placing AA team in District XI finishing third overall only behind Easton, Nazareth, and Northampton.

The Tigers also had two wrestlers reach the 100 win milestone.  (Sr. Dan Konno and Jr. Scott Clymer)

The Tigers assistant coach Bryan Klass  received the 2006 State Assistant Coach of the Year Award along with the 2006 District XI Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
