RICHLAND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL FORFEITS PIAA DISTRICT VI AA
TEAM WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTS Mechanicsburg
(February 9, 2006) At approximately 10:00 a.m. on
Thursday, February 9, 2006, PIAA was officially notified
by the athletic administration of Richland Senior High
School that its wrestling team would be forfeiting all
of the PIAA District VI AA Team Wrestling Championship
Contests in which it participated on Saturday, February
4, 2006, due to its use of an ineligible wrestler.
Richland was scheduled to wrestle Northwestern Lehigh
High School in the second round of the PIAA
Inter-District AA Team Wrestling Championship at the
GIANT Center, Hershey, on Friday, February 10, 2006.
Richland Senior High School Principal Thomas P. Fleming,
Jr. informed PIAA, via facsimile transmission, that due
to its use of the ineligible wrestler and the subsequent
forfeitures, they have notified their coaches and Team
members that its wrestling Team is ineligible to
represent Richland Senior High School as the PIAA
District VI AA Team Champion in the PIAA Team Tournament
this weekend. As a result, Northwestern Lehigh High
School will receive a bye into the quarterfinals and
wrestle Reynolds High School at 12:00 p.m. on Friday,
February 10 th. PIAA recognizes the responsibility of
local school control through local school administrators
and has accepted Richland Senior High School’s
withdrawal from the Event. Questions regarding the use
of the ineligible wrestler should be directed to the
athletic administration of Richland Senior High School. |
